As soon as we moved into our house several years ago, I started hosting friends and family over for brunches, lunches, and dinner! I’ll share more details on how I host and plan the menus in upcoming posts. Below are my top hosting essentials. Whether you are hosting a small gathering in your apartment or house, having a few go to items will always make your guests feel welcomed and cared for.

  1. Electric Food Warmer If you have prepped your dishes and don’t want to leave the oven on (or turn it on), this electric food warmer is a must item. It fits multiple dishes and it has three temperature settings. It’s convenient for storage and easy to wipe down.
  2. Drinking Glasses I love pulling these glasses out for brunch. The deep yellow is sunshine upon the table. The vintage design is also fun to pair with other table decor.
  3. Cotton Napkins Cotton napkins makes you feel cozy and comforted, but also taken care of–like being at a nice restaurant. I have these napkins in two variations: one for spring/summer and the other for fall/winter.
  4. Display Stand I usually leave the cups off of the table and have my guests choose their desired drinking glass. This stand is perfect for fitting all sizes and even for use in displaying cards or cupcakes.
  5. Coffee Cup Stand I set this stand up by the coffee/tea station. Guests love choosing their coffee cup.
  6. Glass Cups These have become our everyday cup, just because I love using them so much! The ribbed exterior makes it easy to hold and so pretty with the glass straws. PRO TIP: Store the straws in a drawer for easy access and less breakage.
  7. Disposable Cutlery Set. The perfect cutlery set for any type of gathering. The gold makes you feel special!
  8. Plates. My go to hosting plate set. Easy to wash and I love the beaded edges.
  9. Placemats. These washable placemats help bring the table setting together. Protects the table surface from spills, stains, and heat. It helps define each guest’s space at the table and adds color and texture.
  10. Chargers. This item may not be a necessity to all, but if you’re doing a table setting, a charger really completes it. If you’re using a table cloth, the charger protects it from spills and heat. It also adds elegance to the table setting.

  • I have seen so many people starting to host in their apartment for a small group of friends. What fun that is!
  • Once you have your table decor, essentials, and menu planned out, hosting is a breeze.
  • My husband loves to set the table and help gather all the essentials for hosting.
